It’s Time for a Follow Up: The Home Care Crisis is Worse

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Do I need to introduce myself every time I write a blog? I hope not. By now, my readers should know who I am. I am Jensen, a 32 year old Disabled Person of color. I've been writing for a few years now.

The topic I'm especially passionate about is the homecare crisis. I wrote an extensive blog post for Rooted in Rights on the crisis. Check it out here:

We are struggling. We are not able to find home care workers because no one wants to accept poverty wages and I don't blame them. This has left many Disabled People in the community without proper care.

Our elected officials are ignoring us, I want to especially name the Governor of New York State, Kathy Hochul. We feel neglected. She has not responded to the home care crisis.

We need Fair Pay for Home Care. We are demanding Kathy raise the poverty wages. Advocates have been in Albany, New York getting arrested for engaging in nonviolent civil disobedience. Our people are suffering through a crisis Kathy Hochul has the power to end.

This is an image of Kathy Hochul, she is smiling
